Web Based Training
FLASH Development Project by Keith D Commiskey

[ Project Preface ]    [ FLASH Intro ]    [ FLASH 1 ]    [ FLASH 2 ]    [ Screen Shots ]

The Flash files and the screen shots presented on these pages are representive of a major Web Based Training project I did last year. The entire project was done using FLASH, ASP, and MS Access.
The project was written from scratch and consists of:
  • An entry screen (Flash)
  • User registration and login
  • User tutorial screens (Flash)
  • User evaluations
  • A host of administrative control functions (i.e., topics, groups, and all aspects of the examination).
  • Please note that each FLASH file is approximately 3.6 MB (mostly due to integrated audio).
Although the system allows for other tutorials to be added, the one represented here consists of 19 topics contained within 7 groups. The database consists of 3 primary tables, and each tutorial is composed of 4 of their own tables. Voice-overs were created by a co-worker, which I then edited and optimized the resulting audio files to conform to the tutorials (I also edited and optimized the introduction music).
The project as a whole took about 2 months to create, but was done while also performing other job functions. I figure it would have taken about 3 weeks if it had been done as a full-time project.
Although I've done other small to mid-sized administration systems and other presentation systems using both PHP and MySQL or ASP and MS Access, this was the largest project I've done (and the most entertaining) using FLASH.
