Apache, Tomcat; Connected at Last

Well, after about 4 or 5 tries over about a 3 week period, I finally got Apache and Tomcat connected. Two or three installs, and three or four configurations later, I finally found a blog last night with about a hundred or more comments on an Apache/Tomcat connection walkthrough.

A few commentors noted they had the same problem as me (after configuring the mod_jk connector module, Apache wouldn’t start). One comment, about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down, had information relating to the JK Module from the Apache/Jakarta site not working with some system setups. They provided a link to another site [XAMPP for Windows] that provides the JK Connector module as part of its installation.

After downloading, and extracting the XAMPP “mod_jk.so” file and placing that in the modules folder, tada! Apache started right up!

I can now begin playing with Struts, Tiles, Java, JSP, Beans, and more…!

I could have setup MyEclipse and WebLogic, which is what I have setup at work, but figured I would learn how to do it this way as well.
